I might try and install that and just bottom the graphic settings as you say, but the laptop is a bit of a donkey. I actually have an installer from GOG cos I bought it from there too, so I can go as far back as v1.3.4.3, but that's not a massive step either. Yeah I had a quick look at the depot thing, as soon as it looked like you needed to enter your account details I decided to 'play it safe' I also had a look at TMOD, but you cant go back far at all. These things can give you a 10-20 FPS boost even on an old laptop, backgrounds off especially is a huge boost. This will let you play Terraria 1.3.5.3, on the other hand you could try getting 1.4 to work on your laptop by turning off "Backgrounds" "Parallax" turn lighting mode to "White". So if you right click Tmod loader, Properties, click Beta, click the drop down you will see a Legacy version option for terraria. Your next best bet would be to download Tmod Loader if you don't have it already, this program allows you to play modded terraria but because there were compatibility problems when terraria 1.4 journey's end update came out the Tmod Loader took longer to update. the downgrade program is on the official terraria forums but I suppose if you want to play it safe just forget about it. The only legit way to do it outside of finding an old boxed copy is the DepotDownloader which uses steam to download the old versions but that might not work anymore or won't be supported soon, I haven't used it myself but I've seen it mentioned on the forums that steam is removing support for this feature.Īsking someone to send you an old installer version most likely breaks steam rules as well, so don't do that. You are asking a question that no one can answer because it would be against steam TOS to tell you how to find an old copy of a game. To get hold of like a v1.2 installer would be mint! I think I have bought Terraria three times for myself, (one Steam, one GoG) I bought it twice as gifts for other, and even got a boxed version still wrapped in cellophane -) Love it! Any ideas anyone? :-) I did look at it a few years back, but it got complicated quickly and I lost interest. Anyhoo, I just thought it would be cool to go retro. The later versions are too demanding for it, so I have to always play on my PC. I started playing on Steam in October / November 2013 so I think that would have been v1.2.something, I didn't get the game in a DRM free form until about the Journey's end update, so I can never go backwards from there really, I suppose not many would.? Anyway, my laptop is crap and it would be good to get a really early version to install on it that might run better. I'm sure this will have been asked numerous times before, but I would love to be able to install some earlier versions of Terraria to play with my rose tinted specs on.
